Guillermo Siesto Sánchez

I am a human fascinated by how things work and connect. Whether it is the logic of neural networks, the structure of a musical composition, or the way human intuition shapes technology, my work is driven by a desire to understand the underlying systems.

I am a Software Engineer at Microsoft in Dublin, where I build internal tools that make sense of complex data. My foundation in artificial intelligence was built in academia. As a Scientific Researcher in Spain, I designed Convolutional Neural Network architectures to predict crop patterns using terabytes of Sentinel-2 satellite imagery. Publishing peer-reviewed papers in this field taught me how to handle scale, how to ship research-grade models into production, and how to stay honest about the real-world impact of every algorithmic decision.

My background is not strictly traditional computer science. I spent ten years earning a professional degree in clarinet at the conservatory. That experience profoundly shapes how I write code. Music taught me discipline, an appreciation for deep patterns, and the reality that even the most rigorous systems only come alive when human intuition guides them.

I believe the most interesting work happens at the edges where different perspectives meet. I was fortunate to co-develop two Grand Prize winners at the Microsoft Global Hackathons: real-time closed-captioning smart glasses and an AI speech-to-sign translator built side-by-side with deaf stakeholders.

When I'm not coding or training models, you'll probably find me playing music, composing, or just exploring new ideas.
